LA WALLY is more than just a vineyard – it is an echo of the past that continues to resonate in the present.
Our vineyard is located south of the B171, opposite the SWAROVSKI Crystal Worlds
In the east of the picturesque market town of Wattens lies the LA WALLY vineyard. The name comes from the opera of the same name by Alfredo Catalani and is a homage to the strong Tyrolean woman “Geierwally”, who died in Wattens and lives on in the craggy eagle logo – a piece of culture that still resonates today.
The idea for this vineyard grew out of the courage and shared passion of two brothers: for wine, farming, craftsmanship and the machinery that goes with it.
What first seemed like an audacious idea – cultivating vines in Wattens – soon became a mission. With craftsmanship, curiosity and determination, they taught themselves the craft of viticulture, sourcing machinery for the fields and the work in the cellar.
And so the starting signal for LA WALLY was given: a vineyard grown from an idea, carried by brotherhood and a love of family history and of the Tyrol.

Or our first with over 100 kg of mash. It depends how you look at it! A very dry growing season with plenty of sunshine gave us first-class fruit from the Cabernet Cortis. The PIWI white wine vines of the Souvignier Gris variety, planted this year, also took root and showed their first grapes.

The first grape harvest on rows 1 & 2 is approaching. That is why we call our first “test wine” PRIMO. We are highly motivated, yet at the same time learning patience. A small vineyard tractor and further field machinery were acquired.

We plant two more rows of vines, 100 metres each, with the PIWI variety Cabernet Cortis.

We plan the layout, set up the first steel trellises and source our first young vines.
